I've been disappointed with Vision Pro for various reasons, such as the lack of investment in content, the small field of view, price and the weight, but this rehash by the self-styled tech critic is insufferable. The first version just shows that Apple wanted to grab some money from rich Apple fans and developers before having something truly useful. They could still salvage it as a media viewer by creating a lot of stereoscopic VR180 content, but the progress has been too slow. I've been using a VR180 camera to create some content myself - I think it's a step forward in capturing memories.
I feel like the money is a side benefit, and what they really wanted was to verify that their basic no-controllers VR/AR paradigm works in the (relatively speaking) mass market before putting the next 10 years of R&D into it.
