LibreOffice Calc blows Excel out of the water when handling CSV files.

It's interresting how Microsoft haven't done a thing to improve their handling in 20+ years. Microsoft 365 is no better at opening CSV than Office '97 were.

Still doesn't work with "Open with..." on macOS on first run.

Still has problems with footnotes in docx files. https://ctrl.vi/i/3M_RGxdv7

Still does weird, inconsistent, specification-noncompliant things with lesser-known code pages in RTF documents. https://ctrl.vi/i/tufN9_PE4

But sure, let's add machine translation to a word processor instead of fixing things.

Come on.Nothing is more boring than fixing bugs. Adding new features on the other hand ... /s

I'm wondering why they don't put more effort into such release notes. There was so much effort during the implementation and then they come up with this half-assed page what should be better now. This makes the work invisible. A few screen shots here and there would make the release notes much more appealing. JetBrains makes a good job in this regard: https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/whatsnew/

Yeah the announcement could sure look better. Something like release notes that are linked from the download page https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.5

Is there a way to get rid of the start screen that insists on hanging out after you close the last document yet? I'm probably being a curmudgeon here but it really rankles me needing an extra, unneeded close action to really close things out.

No compatibility improvements? Sad. In my experience, LibreOffice lags an awful lot when opening Office docs; crashes in quite a few cases; doesn't render like MS Office for a vast number of documents (most tragically, PPT slides).

Compatibility improvements happen all the time on an ongoing basis. It’s just such a regular part of development that we don’t call it out anymore.
