At the first video ad I see, I will immediately crack the DRM on my Kindle books and close Kindle for the last time.

Same here! That level of transgression is a one-and-done (and I have like 200+ kindle books).

Not a kindle user but from what the article shows, it is not and unskipable ad that you have to see before reading but a video ad that shows up in the same section that other ads would appear, you can still scroll pass and ignore it. Clickbait title
