The responding sheriffs and everyone in the chain of command who approved or overlooked this literal highway robbery, and all related federal employees, should be jailed. This is instead going to turn into a burden for taxpayers at best. Civil forfeiture is theft. It should be legal for victims to respond with force just like they would if they were facing any other criminal.

Every single senator and president and house representative of both parties should also be voted out for not banging their drums on civil forfeiture and passing legislation yesterday to forbid it.

>both parties should also be voted out

It will never get better until we do vote them all out, and we have to vote them out every election like a revolving door. Retaining the seat should be the exception not the norm. This stuff has been going on for a long time. I'm convinced they're all corrupt and rotten, it's just a matter of degree. They're great salesmen and saleswomen. They'll tell you what you want to hear, but it seems every election cycle, they only do whatever helps themselves and their donors. I don't care how the sausage is made, the sausage is rotten.

Interestingly, in many of the counties seizing the cash, the reason the original sheriff was brought in to begin with was to help deal with highway robbery at the time.

Sometimes the federal government would be the one taking pride in their ability to provide some protection against highway robbery during cash movements, or at least to administer justice thereafter, before these territories even became states.

If any "lawman" would have ever stooped low enough to rob Wells Fargo, there would have been a hanging without question.

> Unlike in a criminal proceeding, prosecutors do not need to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt to keep property forever.

Wut?! That is robbery!

John Oliver has a segment about it that's quite entertaining to watch. It's even crazier than it seems.
