In this case I'm thinking in the perspective the mass of average consumers would say someone is thinking. To them a realistic threat model assessment would be 'paranoia' (people are out to get you).

The intent was to use a single word to convey most of a complex intent, without diluting the message trying to express nuance that is better left to the reader to evaluate.
