We're nearly the same age and I, too, was a huge fan of Mad during it's hey-days years in the 60s. I especially loved the satirization of current TV shows but what made the magazine so delicious was that our parents hated it (albeit, let us read it, anyway) and it was considered to be subversive by adults. How could it not be successful? I haven't read it in decades but it is a fond memory of my youth.
